PARDON Whut?! Vol. 1 (PAR001)

PARDON, the club night at the hands of Amsterdam’s EYCEE, has acted as an exciting platform for underground music in the city since 2016. Aiming to build bridges between people with an open-minded approach to dance music, the nights provide a place to hear under-represented club sounds with a UK undertone. Extending this philosophy, it was only a matter of time before PARDON claimed its territory as a label, making further offerings to the musical realm with its first release: Whut?! Vol. 01.

Made up of 7 tracks contributed by globally dispersed artists associated with PARDON, Whut?! is proof of the broad influences that feed the label – moving effortlessly from UK funky through breaks, garage & house. Each track provides a stand-out moment of its own, the EP as a whole providing a thrilling ride of addictive dance music. The compilation is proof of PARDON’s focus as a label: releasing unfiltered club cuts with no limitation on genres or borders.

On Whut?!, London’s NOIRE is joined by Toulouse-based Kaval & Rotterdam’s garage connoisseur DJ Crisps. The Amsterdam contingent then bring the release full-circle, with contributions from PARDON head-honcho EYCEE; newcomer Twiena, Solomas & Stef de Haan, a proponent in creating safe spaces for the city’s queer scene. Each artist has added their own flavour to a tasty & effective recipe, bound to make subs rattle & bodies move.

When thinking of PARDON one should think of new, untapped & unparalleled energy, resonating from the heart of Amsterdam’s underground. These exciting sounds beg the question: ‘Pardon - Whut is this I’m hearing?!’
